One of Denmarks largest infrastructure contracting companies Arkil annually holds a themed day on safety for their 130 work and environmental representatives nationwide, and this year Fyns Kran Udstyr was a workshop partner.

Facts about Arkil
Arkil is one of Denmark's largest infrastructure contracting companies and has over 80 years of experience behind it. They are nationwide and carry out everything from construction work and foundations to infrastructure. Arkil has a goal of being among the safest workplaces within the construction industry. They therefore have a high priority on the working environment and safety through ongoing training and follow-up.
The collaboration with Arkil
As part of our core services, we teach courses in the correct use and use of lifting gear, and have held courses several times in Arkil's various departments. In addition, Fyns Kran Udstyr is responsible for the statutory inspections for the entire group, and our knowledge and expertise in the area was also what led us to be invited to teach today's workshop participants in safe use of lifting gear.
Focus on round sling
The theme of the workshop primarily concerned round slings and their use, which was carefully chosen, as Arkil lifts and moves many things around as part of their workflow. Therefore, work environment coordinator Thomas Braüner Laursen had also decided that it was time for a refresher and therefore allied himself with Fyns Kran Udstyr.
"The presentation hits really well, because we often end up with worn and broken round slings, as it is one of our favorite work tools. The problem is just that they are very challenged by craters and hot exhausts. In our industry, the equipment is used in all imaginable conditions, and this wears it down extremely," says Thomas Braüner Laursen.
Renewed attention to safety
Frank Nørlem, who is a sales and training consultant, took good care of those present at the workshop and sent e.g. a round sling around the participants, which they had to troubleshoot. However, it was easier said than done. Even Thomas Braüner Laursen, who is a seasoned in his industry, was surprised by Frank Nørlem's point of going more hands-on and examining the round slings more physically.
“I must honestly say that I had actually forgotten that. On round sling, you look at whether the round slings are intact, but I think it was an eye-opener for most people that invisible damage can also occur, and that is a challenge" .
Thomas Braüner Laursen has no doubt that Fyns Kran Udstyr has created renewed attention to safety in Arkil's work processes, and that people on site are now more aware of checking the equipment both factually and physically. The workshop participants left enlightened and uplifted and prepared to continue the work even more safely than before.
