Fyns Kran Udstyr A/S was chosen as a supplier of crane systems when Danfoss Semco in Odense had to move to a new building with associated production.
Danfoss Semco specializes in the development and production of systems for fire fighting within marine, offshore and land-based industry. A new and modern building, which also meant that they now had the right framework for a thorough streamlining of the production.

A new era
The new bulding also marked a new era for the company, where the goal was to go from being a traditional blacksmith's workshop to streamlined production, where the focus is primarily on the development of new technologies for fire fighting. "A large part of our energy is spent on getting new products approved. It requires an incredible amount of documentation, drawing material and tests to get a new type of nozzles approved, and here it helps to have uniform and streamlined production," explains Nis Jakobsen.
Danfoss Semco went from a production method that meant constant lifting and moving of the pump units weighing up to 3.5 tonnes, to a method where only individual parts of max. 300 kg must be handled. "We have developed some carts on which the heavy units can be easily moved around the production. This means that we can easily handle the individual parts with the crane systems from Fyns Kran Udstyr," says Nis Jakobsen from Danfoss Semco.

4 different crane systems
Fyns Kran Udstyr has delivered and installed 4 different cranes for the new production. A motorized and radio-controlled 28 meter long system overhead crane with double girders and a lifting capacity of 1000 kg, 2 pcs single girder overhead cranes with a lifting capacity of 500 kg and 1000 kg, respectively, and a monorail with a 500 kg electric chain hoist. The solution for Danfoss Semco was a little special, as there was a desire for a large lifting height in a area with relatively low-ceiling. "We therefore used a raised double girder overhead crane, as it provides optimal lifting height. After that, we assembled and installed all 4 crane systems in 4 working days," says Sales Manager at Fyns Kran Udstyr, Anders Helbo.
