CASE: Wind turbine industry creates need for even more cranes at Dansk Gummi Industri A/S

Dansk Gummi Industri's history goes all the way back to 1915. Back then, Holger Thomsen started a shop specializing in repairing bicycles and patching bicycle tires. No one knew that it was the rubber material that the bicycle tire was made of, was to become the cornerstone of the company's history, which is today owned by the fourth generation Thomsen. The company has a diverse product portfolio, where today the primary focus is on protection for the wind turbine industry as well as customized solutions for the machinery and food industry. Dansk Gummi Industri's products are in high demand, both in Denmark and internationally.

Although the development that the company has gone through is big, it still has its headquarters in the same city, Kolding, where it all started in 1915.

Meet development director and co-owner of Dansk Gummi Industri Peter Thomsen in this short video:

New expansion and an easy choice of the crane type

With Christian and Peter Thomsen at the helm, Dansk Gummi Industri is growing in a big way. Besides having expanded to both Germany and USA, they also need more space at the headquarters in Kolding. Therefore, they have expanded with 1,800 m2 of productionarea next to an existing production facility, into which parts of the ongoing production needs to be moved.

Fyns Kran Udstyr has delivered three overhead cranes for the new production area, which has just been completed. Peter Thomsen, who is Development Director and co-owner of Dansk Gummi Industri: "We have chosen the light overhead cranes from Fyns Kran Udstyr, as they are quiet and everyone in the company can operate them without certificates, and that is important to us."

More than just cranes

It is not just cranes and lifting gear such as lifting beams, which Fyns Kran Udstyr supplies to Dansk Gummi Industri. Peter Thomsen also uses EasyCert to keep track of the certificates and the statutory inspections of both lifting gear, cranes and gates: "It's easy and convenient... and it just works really well for us."

Peter Thomsen elaborates: "The reason we have chosen Fyns Kran Udstyr is that we have had a good cooperation for many years, and they have serviced our gates and our lifting gear. They come every year for the annual review of the equipment so that we can follow the requirements.”
