At Nordisk Dæk Import, also called NDI, in Brørup, large quantities of tires and rims are handled via a Schmalz vacuum lifters supplied by Fyns Kran Udstyr.

At the 52,000 m2 large and modern warehouse and logistics center from 2008, more than 1,000 different orders for the Danish market are dispatched daily. All orders are handled via double vacuum lifter areas, where the individual orders are packed and distributed.

With all the orders and the large number of tires and rims that we handle on a daily basis, this means that a lot of kilos are lifted. Therefore, it has been important for us to find a solution where we avoid manual handling of the products, says Director of Logistics Gert Kristiansen.

All in all, the working environment and ergonomically correctly performed work are something that they value highly at NDI. We have it as a mantra that we must be good at working environment and ergonomics.

These are two of the cornerstones of our logistics centre, and if we are good at logistics, then we have a competitive advantage in the market, Gert Kristiansen continues.

The vacuum lifters that Fyns Kran Udstyr delivered to NDI consist of 2 vacuum systems, each with their own individual crane system. The vacuum lifters is fitted with a multifunctional suction cup and a specially developed gripping tool. This means that the same workstation can handle both plastic-wrapped tires and metal rims with one and the same tool.
