This bow shackle is closed with a bolt, nut and cotter pin. This locking method retains the pin and is relevant where the connection must be secured against unintended release.

Check that the bolt, nut and cotter pin are correctly fitted before using the shackle. Select a bow radius and opening that suit the connected lifting gear, especially when using soft slings.
